Hanga Roa centre — Atamu Tekena main street area

Atamu Tekena

Named for the island’s first Catholic catechist, this strip is Hanga Roa’s commercial spine—especially lively before flights and during Tapati.

Cross at marked crossings; scooters and tour vans move fast. ATMs exist but can run empty on busy weekends—plan cash.

Side streets hide bakeries, small museums, and the start of Te Pito O Te Henua toward the harbour.
