Hanga Roa waterfront

Family-run lunch spot for lobster and ceviche by the lava rocks

Tataku Vave sits on the coast by the small Hanga Piko port, on the airport side of Hanga Roa, where waves break over the lava rocks in front of the outdoor tables. It is a family-run place focused on lunch.

The menu leans on seafood: ceviche, grilled tuna, spicy shrimp, octopus and rape rape, the local lobster. Vegetarian dishes and fried chicken are also available, water and tea are on the house, and portions are generous for the price. It is listed by Lonely Planet.

At Tataku Vave, seafood is in focus. They strive for a more local Easter Island touch by for example using seaweed as an ingredient. This restaurant has a spectacular view located just by the ocean. It's off the center in the harbor called Hanga Piko. Food and service is very good.
