Terevaka (Maunga Terevaka)
The grassy dome of Maunga Terevaka is the island’s highest ground. On a clear day you can visually connect Anakena, Ahu Akivi, and the distant motu.
Wind and sun are intense; start early. Details and maps also appear in our hiking guide; guided options are listed under Tours → Terevaka.
Hiking up the Terevaka hill you will reach the highest point of the island - 500 m above sea level.
Terevaka hill, or "Māunga Terevaka", is in the center of the island.
Unlike the dramatic coastal ahu, Terevaka is about scale and silence—horses, scattered volcanic outcrops, and the whole island at your feet.
